Challenges and opportunities for Manufacturing Bussiness by Covid 19

At 2pm - 4pm on May 11, 2021, a seminar for businesses with the theme "Vietnam's manufacturing - manufacturing industry: Paving the way for businesses to recover from the pandemic". The seminar took place on the online platform Zoom and was organized by Informa Market Vietnam company with the theme aimed at mechanical, manufacturing and manufacturing businesses, this Webinar had the presence of 2 speakers. Prestigious: Mr. Dao Phan Long - Chairman of Vietnam Association of Mechanical Enterprises, and Dr. Ngo Cong Truong - Founder and Professional Director of John&Partners Education and Consulting Joint Stock Company.

After the opening of the seminar by Mr. BT Tee - General Director of Informa Market Company, Mr. Dao Phan Long described the panorama of Vietnam's mechanical manufacturing industry in the period of 2020 - 2021. In 2020. The manufacturing and processing industry has received a lot of attention and foreign investment with 14 million USD, accounting for 47.67% of total investment capital. In the midst of new opportunities and potentials, at the same time, Vietnam still faces difficulties and challenges. He said that not only the Vietnamese economy but all other countries are facing difficulties when facing the Covid-19 pandemic. In order for businesses to maintain a positive spirit in the current not-so-optimal situation, the speaker suggested things businesses need to consider right now, such as investing in depth, technological innovation, organizational management. Managing businesses, building relationships with partners... With the motto "Fighting the epidemic is like fighting the enemy", the speaker wants businesses to simultaneously develop the economy and prevent the epidemic.
The first advice among the solutions Mr. Dao Phan Long proposed for businesses is to spend time and money to find and approach consulting organizations on lean production systems. With the motto "Deep specialization - wide cooperation", the speaker encouraged businesses to increase and be flexible in production between businesses. Manufacturing enterprises should say No to the classical closed production, but instead expand cooperation relationships with each other in regions and regions. The term "leading crane" is no longer strange to businesses today. It refers to enterprises that produce large-scale, good-quality goods in the market. But most of these large enterprises only like to work with foreign enterprises because they do not trust domestic small and medium enterprises. Therefore, the state should have policies to encourage large enterprises to become markets as well as create orders for small and medium-sized mechanics to have the opportunity to develop. The final solution Mr. Long offered was to encourage businesses to actively participate in government programs. And vice versa from the government, there should also be programs to support the development of businesses such as considering tax reduction support for a certain period of time to partly remove difficulties for domestic enterprises.
Next, Dr. Ngo Cong Truong shared about the recovery and development journey as well as the optimal solutions for businesses. Starting with the concept of “VUCA” and continuing with the LEAN model of “Lean Manufacturing - Reducing Waste” to help businesses optimize their business operations. The LEAN model applies not only to manufacturing but also to service industries. LEAN is developed into a lean mindset, especially during Covid LEAN is more effective - how to streamline the system as much as possible. LEAN helps eliminate waste by eliminating work that doesn't create the value it needs and getting it right the first time. The speaker also gave practical examples to demonstrate the application of lean thinking in manufacturing enterprises in Vietnam. For example, THACO, with the mindset of "Right in the first time" from the very beginning, has applied LEAN to its operation process and is not too dependent on human resources. Another good example is Dabaco Group, a well-known enterprise in the 3F industry. With the mindset of "Working smarter", businesses have expanded factories, instead of increasing the number of workers, they choose to increase wages for workers to improve efficiency. Thus, in order to survive this epidemic season, manufacturing enterprises must know "Think more, waste less", so that they can firmly move forward.
The last part of the seminar was a lively live exchange between the speaker and the business. Since then, businesses have partly removed the knots of difficulties and problems encountered. From there, there is an overview and changes in thinking and business operating model. The online sharing webinar only took place within 2 hours but brought positive responses from the attendees, giving them useful information that they could immediately apply to their businesses.
